EYFS and Curriculum

At Shimmering stars we believe that children learn best through play. They are more focused and our aim is to help them develop a passion to want to learn. We follow the statutory guidance set out by the government  which covers the 7 main area of learning:

Prime Areas:

1. Communication and language
2. Physical development
3. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Specific Areas:

1. Literacy
2. Mathematics
3. Understanding the world
4. Expressive arts and design

Our curriculum is designed to meet all the needs of the EYFS framework whilst taking into account the individual needs of the children. We include the interests of the children whilst meeting the needs of the British values. Children’s mental wellbeing is an important part of a growing child and that aspect is support throughout our curriculum by giving the children the language they need to be able to express their emotions.

This year (2024 – 2025) we will be taking part in a speech and language programme designed by Oxford University which will help support the speech development of children aged 3 plus.
